Sustainability will be interwoven throughout the design of future SkySong buildings.
The project’s current office buildings are LEED Certified, with consideration given from initial site planning efforts throughout the selection of materials, systems, and construction practices. In addition, SkySong has received an Award of Merit from Valley Forward for its green building standards and Energy Star Certification from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
Shading elements will be employed on all four sides of the future buildings. The architectural designs of the East and West sides of the building will respond to the environment. Openings will be more limited and additional shade elements will help limit the solar gain. The lower horizontal windows will provide views from within and the upper glazing will promote daylighting for the interior spaces.
The SkySong team recognizes that sustainable building is not only the right thing to do, but it also lowers operating costs. We will continue to work to dramatically improve energy efficiency, reduce water consumption, increase recycling, reduce waste, improve the procurement process to include “sustainable products”, eliminate toxic chemicals for cleaning, and improve indoor air quality.
